Windy City Winnies December Meeting

The snow stayed away for the last 2009 meeting of the WCW. On Sunday, Dec. 6th, 31 members and 3 guests…..34 in all, met at the Red Apple Restaurant for a fantastic Polish buffet brunch.

Mary Genaze announced a new service project of saving the fronts of all your greeting cards. They will be recycled into new cards at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Nancy Bican will collect and process the cards. Preemie blankets were given out to volunteers to sew. Our members donated 32 hats, 28 pair of gloves, 15 scarves and 7 hat, glove, scarf sets. The Borchers will deliver these items to the Public Action to Deliver Shelter, PADS, on behalf of our club. Thank you to all that donated. When our official meeting was concluded, all enjoyed the delicious ethnic food and the company of each other.
We then walked the short distance to the Dukes home for a fun afternoon of socializing and of course, more food!! Everyone enjoyed themselves at their open house. A big Thank You; to Bob and Laurie for inviting us to share the holiday season at their home.
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. Safe travels wherever the New Year takes you and God Bless us all in 2010.
